About the artist
Mary Garriott has been a working artist dovetailing between graphic art for commerce and the fine art market in New Mexico since 1961, when she and her husband came here for a brief visit and decided to stay awhile.
Many design assignments came her way and she worked on a variety of projects ranging from tourism, copper, silver, and uranium mines, transatlantic balloon flights, fashion art, lasers and laser optics to mention a few; illustrating and designing annual reports, booklets, corporate design and magazine advertisements.
Mary has participated in many fine art shows, exhibits and fairs over the past twenty years garnering a number of merit and purchase awards regionally and nationally. In recent years she has exhibited her watercolors though she has worked in other mediums including oil, casein, tempera and acrylics.
In addition to numerous private collectors locally and around the country her work is in corporate collections including the former Ranchers Exploration and Development Company, New Mexico School of Mines, and the Albuquerque Museum.
